If you are interested in Joining us Contact Chris Dowell-Bennett through the club or if you know the boys talk to them. 2008/09 will be a big season, some of you will progress  to representative  rugby, some to the Youth side, some to your schools first 15,  and who knows where next, for some you will move on to other things. Match Reports

2nd September 2007
Under 15's  V Dinas Powys
8-44
This was the opening game of the 2007/08 season for the under 15's. Despite a great opening 20 minutes which saw the Wanderers take the lead 8 points to nil, following a try and cheekydrop goal by Joel Colins, Dinas fought back well and in the end proved too strong for the depleated Wanderers side.

New signings Huw,Lewis, Rhys and Matt all had a good start and even though a significant number of the squad were missing including last years top points scorer Rhys Allin, all of the available squad managed to take part.

Some good individual performances, Sam DB made the scum his own, Adam and Huw showing the promise of a good centre partnership and Joel showing again why he should be considered for district honours - verdit work in progress, but lots of potential.

9th September 2007

Under 15’s

Caerphilly 35 Wands 10

Good start to the game taking the initial lead, but a well drill away side proved too much as the Wands drop back in the tackle area and allowed themselves to be pushed of the breakdown area. Good individual try’s from Rhys Allin and David Davies.

Come on boys you know you can do much better than this

Next game Sully home 23rd September 2007.

Squad to be named this week

Glamorgan Wanderers V Sully

Under 15’s

23rd September 2007.

42-10

For the first time this season we were able to put out almost our full strength squad. This was despite the score line a hard fought game. The front row dominated the scrum, showing itself again to be one of the best in this region. Ben Smith was outstanding in the line out yet again and this allowed the backs to open up.

Trys: Ryan Hopkins x 2, Ryan Taylor x 1, Joel Collins x 1, David Enright x 2 Lawrence x 1 (first try)

Penalty Nathan x 1, Con x 2.

Next game Rumney away

Rumney V Glamorgan Wanderers

Under 15’s

30th September 2007.

12-24

Another hard fought win by the Wands, Rumney played hard and determined rugby and took the early lead , but outstanding defence by the whole team but especially Hugh and Adam kept their scoring chances down, despite an ill disciplined game Wanderers forwards again dominated the set piece a and Chivers was outstanding in the loose. An outstanding individual try following turn over ball from Ryan Hopkins has to be the try of the season so far.

Trys: Ryan Hopkins x 1

Hugh Moorcroft x 1

Adam Woods x 1

William Thomas x 1

Next Game St Peters away

St Peters v Glamorgan Wanderers

Under 15’s

7th October 2007.

29-24

Without question the best game of rugby of the season so far, both teams played excellent rugby with the lead changing hands up to the last minute. Again the front row proved why it’s considered the best around, great defence and attacking play gave the spectators plenty to enjoy. Well done to both side and well done to the referee on an excellent game. Especially well done to David Davies and Joel   for their brilliant try’s

Trys: Joel Colin’s x 2, David Davies x 2

Cons Adam Woods x 2

Next game: Rhiwbina Home

Glamorgan Wanderers V Rhiwbina

Under 15’s

14th October 2007.

22-24

The one that got away is the only way to describe this thrilling and hard fought game, Fantastic debut by Lewis Elliot and two try’s by David Davies and One Penalty and two conversions by Otter (Nathan) should have been enough to secure victory, unfortunately a controversial try in the dying seconds of the game saw the win going to Rhiwbina.

Well-done boy’s great effort.

Next Game   Bedwas home

Glamorgan Wanderers V Bedwas

Under XV

21st October 2007.

54-7

Excellent win by the Wands, great display of forward power and backs running. Great defence. Too many good performances to point to anyone player.

Trys: Sean Murry x 1

 Mathew Williams (Buster) x 1

David Enright x 3

David Davies x 1

Will Thomas x 1

Adam Wood x 1

Cons Adam Woods 7

Glamorgan Wanderers V Llandaff North

Under XV

28th October 2007

Another great win many first starts today and good performances all round, Joel scored three wonderful trys but M.O.M went to Dayle for an outstanding all round display.

Trys: Joel Collins x 3

David Enright x 1

Dayle Lace x 1

Penalty Joel Collins x 1

Cons Adam Woods  x 2

Next Game Pencoed Home

Wanderers under 15’s V Pencoed Under 15’s

4th November 2007

24-7

A good game played in a great spirit.  The Wanderers pack controlled most of the set piece and the back punished loose play from Pencoed, and outstanding game by fullback Rhys Allin saw him go over to finish a great team followed by an outstanding individual try from his own 22. Further try’s by Otter (Nathan) and David Davies caped a good result. Overall however this was not the best performance and there is huge room for improvement .

Trys: Rhys Allin x 2

David Davies x 1

Nathan Haynes x1

Cons Nathan Haynes x 2

11th November 2007

Llandaff Away

Llnadaff 7 Wands 44

Great win, and great performances by Rhys Allin Ryan Hopkins and Ben Smith all scoring  trys, Smithy getting his first ever try and Hoppy his first seven pointer. Rhys Allin put on a great running display and the forwards just controlled the game from start to finish. Good dogging and running by Luke McHugh in second row capped a fine win.

Next Game Dinas Powys Home

18th November 2007.

Wands 8 Dinas 12

Match abandoned at halftime due to serious injury to Ryan Hopkins.

What started as a hard by difficult game due to the conditions ended in a tragic injury to Hoppy who broke both his tib and fib (mind you he know lives up to his name) On a serious note our thanks go to the Dinas Player for their support and under standing and to the Dinas coaches and Parents – especially John the doctor who waited in the pouring rain for nearly one and half hours waiting for an ambulance.

Get well soon Hoppy we’re all thinking of you.

Next Game Risca Home.

 25th November 2007.

Wands V Risca

20-0

Hard fought game in poor conditions, Wands forwards again dominated the set piece, with trys from both props, Sam D-B and Buster (Mathew Williams), after two near misses David Davies scored an excellent wingers try down the left hand side. A conversion and penalty from Otter (Nathan Haynes) secured the win. Thanks to Risca for traveling so far to play.

Next Game Ystrad Rhondda Away 16th December 2007.

Get well soon Ryan (Hoppo) Hopkins from everyone.

16th December 2007

Ystrad Rhondda V Glamorgan Wanderers

7-52

Brilliant win, outstanding game by Dayle who got two trys and Man of the Match. Trys by Otter, Rhys, Sam and Buster added up to a comprehensive victory, great speed by the backs and total dominance by the pack made this a onesided game at times but Ystrad were rewarded with a try for their determination.

Great win Next game Bridgend Athlectic home 30th December 2007, bring the family along to support us. Training on the 28th 4.00pm

30th December 2007

Wands V Bridgend Athlectic

10-34

Very hard fought game, after giving away a soft try in the opening minutes Wands came back againgst a very well drilled Bridgend side. Ill dicipline on both side threatened to spoil an excellent game. Thankfully rugby previaled.

Try by David Davies, Penalty and Conversion by Nathn (Otter) Haynes.

Look forward to the return fixture withyout the silly bits. Good luck to Bridgend in the Osprey's cup

Next game 6th January 2008

Wands V Llantwit Major

6th January 2008

Wands V Llantwit Major

38-13

Great win by the Wands, both forwards and backs scored, some poor handling and basic mistakes on both sides kept the score down.

Trys: Sam DB x 1

Ben Smith x 2

David Davies x 1

Nathan (Otter) Haynes x 1

Lewis Elliot x 1

Cons: Otter x 4

Next Game 13th January 2008

Nill, nill until 2 minutes before the first half, Wands dominating the set piece but made too many errors in
